
Mississippi State Earns USBWA, NCAA.com, ESPN Weekly Honors

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The United States Basketball Writers Association, NCAA.com and ESPN recognized Mississippi State women's basketball in their weekly honors on Tuesday.
USBWA and NCAA.com each tabbed Mississippi State with Team of the Week honors, while ESPN voted Mississippi State's victory over No. 9/9 LSU its Win of the Week.
Mississippi State added three victories – two of which came on the road – over a six-day stretch last week to extend its current win straight to four and improve its position in the SEC picture. Mississippi State improved to 19-5 overall and 6-3 in the SEC heading into a pair of home contests this week.
The team mantra for this season is "ONE", which perfectly describes the team effort of last week's stretch. Mississippi State finished with a different leading scorer in each of the three wins, while seven different players tallied 10-plus point efforts.
Mississippi State defeated reigning national champions No. 9/9 LSU 77-73 last Monday in front of a sold-out crowd of 9,101 inside Humphrey Coliseum for head coach Sam Purcell's first top-10 win. Mississippi State then overcame a six-point road deficit with under a minute left in regulation to hand Kentucky a 77-74 defeat in overtime last Thursday inside Rupp Arena.
Mississippi State closed out the three-game sweep by overcoming its largest deficit in an eventual win this season after trailing by as much as nine in a 74-63 road win over Texas A&M last Sunday in Reed Arena.
Mississippi State remains home this week to host Georgia on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. CT and Florida on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. CT.
