Dawgs Explode For 19 Runs in Win Over Jackson State

Dakota Jordan drove in five runs for the Dawgs.
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State baseball team exploded for 19 runs in a 19-6 victory over Jackson State on Tuesday. The Diamond Dawgs used a 13-run inning to take control of the contest.
Mississippi State's offense came alive against Jackson State, with the Dawgs putting up 14 hits on the night. The Dawgs started down five runs after the second inning, but a big 13 run third inning pushed State to a win. Mississippi State has not scored more than 11 runs in an inning since 2023 against Grambling where they put together 11.
Dakota Jordan showed off his power tonight going 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, double and drove in five runs. Jordan has now hit three home runs this season. Hunter Hines continued to hit as he went 3-for-4 on the day. Hines drove in a season-high four runs. The two, three and four-hole hitters for MSU combined for 13 of the teams 19 RBIs.
Colby Holcombe drew the start on the mound. Holcombe put in 1.1 innings of work and struck out two. Nolan Stevens was electric on the mound punching out four and allowing just two hits in 2.2 innings pitched and collected the win. Bradley Loftin grabbed two innings and struck out two. Logan Forsythe made his 2024 season debut and struck out three in an inning of work to close out the game.
Mississippi State is back at Dudy Noble Field for a three-game series against Mount St. Mary's, which starts Thursday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. All games will be broadcasted on SECN+.
