Okot Dominates As Bulldogs Defeat Maryland Eastern Shore
December 20, 2024 | Women's Basketball
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs are headed home for the holidays with their fourth straight victory after taking down the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks, 70-52.
Madina Okot was dominant on the floor for the Bulldogs on Friday afternoon. The junior finished with a career-high 26 points, as she shot 13-16 from the floor. Her 26 points tied Eniya Russell's performance against Memphis for the most of any Bulldog this season.
Along with her team-leading scoring, Okot corralled in seven rebounds. Over her last five games, she is averaging a double-double with 15.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
Eniya Russell showed out in her home state. The Baltimore native picked up a double-double against UMES, her first of the season, after she picked up 10 rebounds to go along with her 16 points.
Denim DeShields knocked down a pair of three pointers on an eight-point day. Destiney McPhaul and Jerkaila Jordan both picked up six points on the night, as well as two blocks a piece. Jordan's last bucket gave her 2,000 career points over her collegiate career, making her one of 16 active players to have achieved that mark.
The Bulldogs will return to Humphrey Coliseum for the first time since November 20 when they wrap up their non-conference schedule against South Carolina State. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on SECN+.
