Mississippi State Set To Host Belmont In Tupelo

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball will take the floor on Saturday in the first game of a Bulldog double header at Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo, Mississippi against the Belmont Bruins. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.

Saturday's matchup marks the second time Mississippi State women's basketball team will play in Tupelo. The last time was December 16, 2003, when the Bulldogs picked up a 94-61 victory over UT Martin.
Mississippi State will take on Belmont for the fifth time in history on Saturday. State leads the all-time series 3-1. This is the first neutral-site game between the two programs. The Bulldogs took down Belmont in last year's matchup between the two programs 63-62 in Nashville.
The Bulldog defense has been stellar this season. State ranks second in the nation in field-goal percentage defense (29.6%) and eighth in three-point percentage defense (21.8%). The Bulldogs lead the Southeastern Conference in both categories. They also rank third in the nation in scoring defense (48.7 points per game).
Under head coach Sam Purcell, State has won 37 of 44 non-conference games. Against non-conference opponents at neutral sites, State is 11-1 under Purcell. In the month of December under Purcell, the Bulldogs have won 12 of 14 games.
