A quick rundown of MSU’s win over the Panthers.
THE BOTTOM LINE: For the second straight game to start the season, Mississippi State faced off with a team from Georgia. For the second straight time, the Bulldogs rolled to a dominant victory against a Peach State foe. MSU is now 2-0 after cruising past Georgia State 101-66 on Friday night at Humphrey Coliseum. The Dawgs had a huge first half, outscoring the Panthers 47-25 over the first 20 minutes. And while Georgia State gave MSU an early fit in the final period, State's lead never shrank under 12 points and the Bulldogs eventually pulled away to convincingly wrap the game in Maroon and White.
KEY NUMBERS: Just like on Monday, the Bulldogs once again shined from long range. State made 10 more 3-pointers against the Panthers after sinking 14 of them back on Monday. Five different Dawgs made at least one trey on Friday. Eight MSU players scored eight total points or more, and the Bulldogs put five players in double figures. Also incredibly impressive Friday? State shot 58.3 percent as a team while limiting Georgia State to 34.4 percent from the field.
