Postgame Notes: State vs. Georgia State

TEAM NOTES
- For the third consecutive season under Chris Jans, Mississippi State advances to 2-0 as the Bulldogs blitzed Georgia State, 101-66, on Friday evening at Humphrey Coliseum.
- State has won all five meetings versus Georgia State highlighted by the last four outings by at least 20 points.
- The 101 points are the second-highest point total by the Bulldogs under Coach Jans only behind 106 points against Tulane (12/09/2023) at last year's Holiday Hoopsgiving.
- Prior to tonight, a team led by Coach Jans has never amassed at least 95 points in consecutive games. Â
- The last time State scored 95+ points in back-to-back games was during the 2004-05 season versus Florida A&M (104-80 on 12/20/2004) and against Jacksonville State (95-53 on 12/22/2004).
- Prior to tonight, a State team has never started a season with consecutive 95-plus point performances.
- The Bulldogs surpassed the 100-point barrier for the 57th time in program history and improved to 56-1 in those contests. The Maroon and White has won 34 straight games dating back to 1975-76 when eclipsing the century mark.Â
- State has dialed up wins in 25 of 29 games versus non-SEC opponents under Coach Jans.Â
- The Bulldogs had five players register double figures and have won both games when accomplishing feat. Coach Jans squads are 15-0 when having at least 5 players reach double digit points.
- State improved to 15-1 during the month of November under Coach Jans.
- The Bulldogs racked up 15 steals which matched the second-most under Coach Jans. State set the high watermark with 17 steals against West Georgia in the season opener.
- Through two games, State sits at 32 steals which is the highest two-game total in program history dating back to at least 1979-80. The previous mark was 31 steals in 2001-02. Â
- The Maroon and White forced 17 turnovers and cashed in 31 of the game's 45 points off miscues.
- State converted 27 of its 42 field goals on the interior and claimed a 54-24 advantage in paint points.
- The Bulldogs were able to get out in transition for the second straight game and fired in 30 fastbreak points to Georgia State's eight.
- State improved to 36-5 when leading at halftime under Coach Jans.
- The Maroon and White led by 22 at halftime, which is the second-largest halftime lead in the Coach Jans era.
- The Bulldogs won the battle of the boards for the 47th time in 71 games under Coach Jans and improved to 35-12 when accomplishing the feat.
- As a team, State connected on 42-of-72 from the field (58.3 percent), notched a 10-of-28 clip from three-point territory (35.7 percent) and sank 7-of-10 at the foul line (70.0 percent).
- The 42 made is the most field goals made by a team coached by Chris Jans has ever had.
- On the other hand, Georgia State recorded a 22-of-64 shooting effort (34.4 percent), hit 5-18 of its three-pointers (27.8 percent) and knocked down 17-for-25 at the charity stripe (68.0 percent).

- Buried at least one three-pointer in 15 consecutive games dating back to the Georgia game on 02/07/2023.
- Canned multiple trifectas for the 31st time in 37 career games.
- Grabbed a career-high six rebounds.

- Made his 2nd consecutive start on the young season.
- Filled the stat sheet with eight points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists.
- The four steals set a new career watermark, while the four assists matched a career-high.
- His 11th effort with multiple assists and his 3rd outing with multiple steals.Â
- Made his first start in the Maroon and White and the 2nd start of his career.

- Riley Kugel added 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting effort.
- Knocked down multiple triples which marked his 30th career game with 10-plus points.
- Kanye Clary tallied 11 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the field.
- The 23rd career game for Clary reaching double figures.
- Passed out six assists which marks his 6th career game with five or more dimes.
- Cameron Matthews came off the bench after he started in the team's last 56 games spanning the last three seasons.Â
- Stuffed the stats sheet with nine points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
- The two steals give Matthews 196 for his career, which currently sits him at 4th place in program history. He is five away from passing Quinndary Weatherspoon (2016-17-18-19).
- Recorded multiple steals for the 56th outing of his career.
- Swatted multiple blocks for the 15th time of his career.
- Shawn Jones Jr. chipped in seven points while shooting 3-of-3 from the field.
- Gai Chol added four points to go along with three rebounds.
- Dellquan Warren scored his first career basket along with four dimes, two rebounds and two steals.
- Jeremy Foumena and Trey Jackson III rounded out the scoring with a bucket and a free throw, respectively.
