State Falls in Five to Rebels

OXFORD, Miss. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs fell short of a second victory over the Ole Miss Rebels this season, as they dropped Sunday's match in five sets.
Arissa Smith, Karli Schmidt and Kailin Newsome all led the State attack in the contest, as all three finished the match with 14 kills. Amina Shackelford picked up 10 kills to finish as the fourth Bulldog with double-digit attacks. Ceci Harness picked up a career-high five kills in the matchup.
McKenna Yates and Mele Corral-Blagojevich led the State defense on the day. Yates picked up 26 digs, marking her third straight game with 25 or more digs. Corral-Blagojevich tallied a season-high of 15 digs for the third time this year. Newsome picked up her 11th double-double this season after collecting 10 digs. At the net, Smith and Shackelford led the way with three blocks a piece.
The Bulldogs will be back in action when they travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. First serve is set for 6 p.m. CT on SECN+.
