Bulldogs Fall To Tigers in Three Sets

STARKVILLE -Â The Mississippi State Bulldogs fell short in their SEC home opener against the LSU Tigers, dropping the match in three straight sets.Â
The Bulldogs (7-4, 1-1 SEC) grabbed the lead at the start of set three on a Mele Corral-Blagojevich kill, but failed to hold on to it coming up short on a Tigers kill to end it.Â
Kailin Newsome picked up her seventh double-double of the season, and second in as many games. She had 10 kills and 10 digs on the night, while also scoring 10.5 points.Â
Karli Schmidt has her second-straight double-digit kill match collecting 10 and tying Newsome for the team-high. Amina Shackelford and Arianna Beckham picked up 5 and 6 kills, respectively.Â
Corral-Blagojevich and Mary Neal both tallied 8 digs on the night. Ceci Harness led the team with 15 assists in the contest.Â
The Bulldogs are back at the Griss on Sunday at 2 p.m. as they face the Tennessee Volunteers in their third SEC matchup of the season. The match will be broadcast on SECN+.Â
