Endicott Rallies In Second Round To Rise Inside Top 10
October 20, 2024 | Men's Golf
BILOXI, Miss. – Garrett Endicott climbed 12 spots on the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon after carding the low round for No. 22 Mississippi State men's golf. The Bulldogs now sit sixth as a team at the Fallen Oak Collegiate at 5-over after carding a 4-over second round.
"We need to take some ownership of today's round and get better from it," head coach Dusty Smith said. "We did not take advantage of the par-5s and the scoreable par-4s today. We know what we need to clean up. It's up to us to do it. I'm really excited to see how we compete tomorrow. It's another great opportunity for us to end the fall the right way."
Endicott carded five birdies on the day, with four coming on par-4s. He sat 2-under at the turn and dropped as low as 4-under with two more birdies on No. 11 and the par-3 No. 14. However, he bogeyed two of his final three holes to finish at 2-under. He's now 1-under for the tournament and tied for 10th.
Drew Wilson and Dain Richie are tied for 23rd after 36 holes. Both are 2-over for the tournament. Wilson rallied back with two back-nine birdies to finish with a 74 on Sunday. Meanwhile, Richie was even at the turn but finished with a 1-over 73.
Josep Serra is tied for 28th. Individual Harrison Davis shot 2-over on Sunday and is tied for 32nd at 4-over. Also playing individually, Trip Duke carded three birdies in his second collegiate round.
The Bulldogs will tee off the final round at 8:50 a.m. CT on Monday alongside Georgia and Illinois. Duke will leave 10 minutes earlier from the No. 10 tee with Davis to follow. Live results are available on Golfstat.
