October 18, 2024 | Men's Golf
BILOXI, Miss. – No. 22 Mississippi State men's golf will co-host the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational in Biloxi, Mississippi, this weekend on Oct. 19-21. The Bulldogs are joined by No. 2 Ole Miss and Southern Miss at the par-72, 7,487-yard Fallen Oak Golf Course.
Â
The 13-team field includes five teams ranked in the SCOREBOARD Top 25 Rankings. Including the host Bulldogs and Rebels, No. 5 LSU, No. 15 Illinois and No. 23 South Carolina round out the field. The Bulldogs are coming off their best result of the season, finishing second at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 2).
Â
"We are very honored to be a co-host for the Fallen Oak Collegiate," head coach Dusty Smith said. "The tournament, as well as the hospitality, are second-to-none. To be able to play this event in Mississippi down on the coast is something we are very thankful for. The golf course is in great shape and will be a tremendous test for our team. We want to finish the fall season strong and finish the fight that we started back in August. We are prepared. We just need to stick to how we do things and play Mississippi State golf this week."
Â
MSU finished third at last year's Fallen Oak Collegiate. State's 276 in the opening round remains tied for the seventh-best first round in program history.
Â
The Bulldogs will start a lineup with plenty of experience and success in 2024. Former All-American Garrett Endicott leads State in the No. 1 slot, alongside Josep Serra (No. 2), Dain Richie (No. 3), Ugo Malcor (No. 4) and Drew Wilson (No. 5). Harrison Davis and Trip Duke will play as individuals.
Â
In his last start, Endicott made history at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational by moving into sole possession of fifth in program history with 45 career par or better rounds. He leads the team with a 71.89 stroke average this season, and his best finish came when he tied for third at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate (Sept. 6-8).
Â
Serra looks to recapture the success he found at the 2023 Fallen Oak Collegiate. Last year, he tied for third, his career-best finish. He carded rounds of par or better all three days, including a 4-under 68 in the first round. He has two top-20 finishes so far this season.
Â
Richie has compiled four rounds of par or better in 2024, including a an even-par 72 in his last start at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Malcor, State's second transfer from the summer, put together his best result of fall with a seventh-place finish at the Blessings. His 1-under 71 in the final round tied for the second-best final round in the entire field.
Â
Wilson is coming off his best performance of the season, leading the team with a sixth-place finish at the Blessings. He fired a 2-under 70 in the first round with three birdies and an eagle. He is currently State's highest-ranked individual in the SCOREBOARD rankings at No. 76.
Â
Davis last competed at the Valero Texas Collegiate (Sept. 21-23), where he fired back-to-back rounds of 1-under 71 to begin the event. Duke will be making his debut in the Maroon and White. The true freshman was a standout player at Fairhope High School in Alabama, where he was the state's No. 2 junior golfer in the 2024 class.
Â
State begins play at 9:30 a.m. CT on Saturday morning with the individuals teeing off at 11:40 a.m. Live results will be available on Golfstat.
