Track and Field Heads to Fayetteville for the Razorback Invitational

STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State track and field team is back on the track this weekend to compete in the Razorback Invitational, for the first of two indoor meets in Fayetteville, Ark. The University of Arkansas will host the two-day event Jan. 26-27.Â

The Razorback Invitational will be held at the Randal Tyson Track Center and will feature 15 teams, including nine SEC opponents. The men's contest will feature nine teams ranked inside the top 25 of the first USTFCAA rankings, including five top 10 teams: USC (4), Kentucky (5), Florida (6), Georgia (7) and Oklahoma State (8). The women's competition will include five ranked teams, Arkansas (2), Florida (3), USC (4), Texas A&M (5) and Oregon (8).

Friday's events will begin at 11:35 a.m. CT with the men's heptathlon 60m and conclude with the women's distance medley relay at 7:30 p.m. CT. Saturday's events will begin at 10 a.m. CT with the men's heptathlon 60m hurdles followed by the women's 60m qualifying at 10:15 a.m. CT. Field events on Saturday will start at noon with the women's shot put. The Razorback Invitational will conclude at 4:40 p.m. with the men's 4x400 relay.

Sophomore Peyton Bair (heptathlon) and freshman Jordan Ware (200m) will highlight Friday's events. Last year, Bair broke State's heptathlon record at the Randal Tyson Track Center, scoring 5,733 points. Ware is coming off an impressive performance in the 200m at the Vulcan Invite where he broke the meet record and recorded the 5th fastest 200m performance in the SEC this season with a time of 20.93. Ware is the only freshman who currently ranks inside the 200m top 20 performance list this season.

Saturday's events will highlight Bulldog graduate student Kethlin Campbell's return to her alma mater. While at Arkansas, Campbell was a four-time First Team All-American, twice indoor. She also took two trips to the NCAA Championship (2019 and 2021), earning silver in the 4x400 and the distance medley relay, respectively.
