Mississippi State brought home a 73-56 road win in the last and lone meeting under head coach Sam Purcell on Feb. 9, 2023. Now senior guard Jerkaila Jordan finished with 20 points on 8-10 from the field and 4-4 from behind the arc with nine rebounds in 29 minutes in the last contest. She is averaging 20.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in her two contests against Florida.

Jordan leads the team with a career-best 16.9 points per game this season. One of the defensive anchors, Jordan has also recorded three-plus steals in all five SEC contests and in nine overall games this season. Her 18 steals through the first five SEC contests - 3.6 per game - leads all conference players.Â

Mississippi State has started its SEC schedule with a 2-3 record after it went 9-7 in regular-season conference play in 2022-23. The 11 SEC and 37 overall victories by Purcell are already the most of any head coach in program history through their first two seasons.

Purcell recorded the most SEC wins by a Mississippi State head coach in their debut season with the nine victories in 2022-23 - a mark that is almost double the previous high of five wins. Purcell also stands as the only head coach in program history to have a winning record in SEC play in his debut season.Â

Graduate student center Jessika Carter earned SEC Co-Player of the Week honors for the second time this season on Tuesday after she averaged 22.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocks in 34.5 minutes per game in Mississippi State's two conference wins last week. It marks the fourth overall time in her career that she has earned the conference's top weekly honor.Â
Mississippi State leads the SEC with four SEC Player of the Week selections this season.Â

Carter is currently posting career-best averages in both points and rebounds with 14.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She is averaging 19.0 points on 60.5 percent from the field and 9.7 rebounds over the last three SEC contests compared to 7.0 points and 9.0 rebounds on 33.3 percent from the field over the first two.Â
Graduate student forward Erynn Barnum recorded her eighth career double-double and fourth this season with 15 points and 12 rebounds last time out against Tennessee on Thursday. She has led the team in rebounds in each of the last two contests.Â

Graduate student guard Lauren Park-Lane leads the SEC and ranks third nationally with 121 assists. She is one of just three players in the country to rank inside the top eight for total assists each of the last two seasons. Park-Lane has led the team in assists in all five SEC contests and in 18 of 20 overall. Her current 6.1 assists per game would be the second-best single-season mark in program history.

Known for being one of the conference's premier threats from behind the arc, sophomore guard Debreasha Powe is connecting on a career-best 40.9 percent on 45-110 from three this season. Her 45 three pointers are second in the SEC and her 40.9 percent is third.

Mississippi State is one of the top teams nationally at defending without fouling and stands third nationally with only 12.3 fouls per game.
