Former Player Dean, Named Director Of Volleyball Operations

STARKVILLE – Former Mississippi State standout Margaret Dean will join the program again after being named the new Director of Volleyball Operations, head coach Julie Darty Dennis announced Thursday. Â
"It is always so special when alumni want to come back and be part of the program they played in," Dennis said. "I am so excited and thrilled to announce Margaret Dean as our director of volleyball operations. Margaret made a huge impact on our program in two short seasons, and I know she will do the same in this new role. She is driven, organized, focused and fiery and will help us give our student-athletes an incredible experience here in StarkVegas! Please give a warm welcome back to Margaret!"
Dean, a native of Bedford, Texas, spent two seasons as a setter with the Bulldogs in 2020 and 2021. While wearing Maroon and White, she played in 51 matches and started in 24. During her career with State, Dean registered 1,015 assists and 385 digs.
In Dean's first season with the Bulldogs, she tallied 332 assists and 149 digs while playing in all 20 matches.
Dean played a vital role in the historic 2021 season and helped lead the team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Dean saw action in all 31 matches and collected 683 assists and 236 digs during the season.
Prior to her time at Mississippi State, Dean spent three seasons at Stephen F. Austin, where she garnered 607 assists, 318 digs and 38 aces. In 2019, Dean helped SFA to back-to-back Southland Conference Championships as the Ladyjacks finished a perfect 16-0 for the second-straight season.
SFA went 31-2 in 2019 and clinched its second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. As a junior, Dean tallied 550 assists in a two-setter system, 277 digs and led her team with 35 service aces. Dean also collected 13 double-doubles.
