Bulldogs hit four homers for the fourth time this season

AUBURN, Ala. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs offense exploded in the second game against the Auburn Tigers, as they picked up an 11-10 victory. The Diamond Dawgs had 10 hits in the game including four home runs. The four home runs tied a season-high for the Dawgs in a single game.

The Bulldog offense scored their first runs in the sixth, as they put six runs across. They added three in the eighth and two in the ninth.

Four different Bulldogs picked up homers in the contest. Amani Larry went 3-for-4 on the day with a two-run blast. Slate Alford went 2-for-3 while also reaching twice on walks. His three-run homer gave the Bulldogs the lead in the sixth. Luke Hancock went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run homer in the ninth, ultimately securing the game-winning run. Kellum Clark also homered as he picked up a solo shot.

KC Hunt picked up his first victory of the season after he entered in relief in the fifth. Hunt threw a career-high 4.1 innings and struck out a career-high seven batters. After entering in the ninth, Aaron Nixon picked up his first save of the year.

The rubber match between the Bulldogs and Tigers is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday. The game will be broadcast on SECN+.

Kason Howell led off the home half of the ninth with a solo homer. Foster singled to right to score Wright. Bobby Peirce doubled to right, scoring Stanfield. Ike Irish legged out an infield single to score Foster. Howell tripled to left to push three runs across for the Tigers.
