STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State track and field team will travel the short distance to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete in the Crimson Tide Invite. The event officially gets underway on Friday, with the hammer throw and all remaining events going on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide Invite will be held at the Sam Bailey Track & Field Stadium on the campus of the University of Alabama. The event will feature 19 teams, two of which are ranked in the top 25 of the latest USTFCCA rankings.

With just the men's and women's hammer throw taking place on the opening day, Daniel Pepper will be the long Bulldog competing on Friday. Pepper has earned a spot in the men's hammer throw invitational pairing and will be part of the 6 p.m. group. Pepper will be looking to build upon his season-best throw of 59.79m that he threw last weekend at the Tom Jones Memorial Invite. His throw was good for a top 100 NCAA mark.

The Saturday action starts at 11 a.m. with the women's discus. The Bulldogs will have Jhordyn Stallworth and Tafada Wright in that event to kick start the day for Mississippi State. Last weekend Stallworth finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 51.10m.

The stadium will open to spectators one hour before the first competition of the day. Admission is free to everyone who wants to attend the meet. Mississippi State track & field will wrap up its regular season competition on April 28-29 at home when they host the Maroon & White Invite at the Mike Sanders Track Complex. The Bulldogs will also be honoring their seniors on Saturday.
