Bulldogs Fall At Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – The Mississippi State volleyball team dropped a three-set contest to Ole Miss on Sunday afternoon in Gillom Athletics Performance Center.
The Rebels took the first set in extras with a tightly-contested 30-28 win, followed by a 25-15 win to take the 2-0 match lead. Ole Miss closed out the match with a 25-15 victory in the final frame.
The Bulldogs move to 12-14 overall and 5-11 in SEC play, while Ole Miss improves to 11-17 overall and 5-12 in league play.
Karli Schmidt led the Bulldogs for the third consecutive match with 12 kills. Amina Shackelford followed with 10 kills and added two blocks.
Sophie Agee and Zoe Gonzales each recorded three kills on the afternoon. Gonzales led the Bulldogs with three blocks, while Agee provided one. Rebecca Walk came away with two blocks of her own.
Lauren Myrick donned the libero jersey for two sets, collecting 11 digs and five assists for the match. Myrick moved to the outside for set three, where she provided two kills. Freshman Mary Neal saw her second appearance in the libero jersey in set three and totaled five digs for the match.
State's setters Alexa Fortin Goede and Emily Oerther combined for 26 assists and 11 digs. Oerther issued a team-best 16 assists and registered six digs, while Goede added 10 assists and five digs.
Mississippi State will head to Knoxville, Tennessee, to face No. 8 Tennessee on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. CT.
