Bulldogs Head To Alabama And Georgia

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State volleyball team hits the road for a pair of road matches, facing Alabama on Friday before taking on Georgia on Sunday.
First serve on Friday against Alabama is set for 6 p.m., while Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m. CT. Both matches will air on SEC Network+ and the Watch ESPN app.
"This is a tough road trip for us, but we have been focused and dialed in all week in practice," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "I am excited for a chance to compete in Tuscaloosa and Athens. As always, every SEC opponent is a tough match and this will certainly be no different, but I am hoping the Road Dawgs are ready!"
The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-2 win against Ole Miss last weekend and are 10-9 overall and 3-6 in SEC play. Alabama comes into the match on Friday 10-10 overall and 0-9 in league play. Georgia is 13-7 on the year and 4-4 in conference play. UGA faces No. 24 Auburn on Friday before taking on State on Sunday.
Right Side Amina Shackelford has been lights out at the net by earning 2.00 kills per set and tallying 0.81 blocks per set. Right side Caylee Sharkey has tallied 1.07 kills per set on the season.
Sophie Agee has earned a trio of double-doubles and amassed 10 or more kills in 10 matches while also collecting 1.96 digs per set. Karli Schmidt has ripped 2.97 kills per set on a .225 hitting percentage. She has reeled in 10-plus kills in 12 outings.
Middle blocker Rebecca Walk has earned 1.68 kills per set on a .394 hitting clip, which ranks first on the hitting percentage SEC leaderboard. Walk also ranks first on the squad with 1.09 blocks per set. Sanaa Williams has totaled 1.04 blocks per set, which ranks third on the team.
Mississippi State setters, Erin Kline and Emily Oerther, have dished out 7.84 assists per set. Kline registered a season-best 17 assists against No. 14 Florida (10/13), while Oerther also earned a season-high 29 assists against the Gators. Oerther leads the team with 4.65 assists per set.
Libero Lauren Myrick has tallied 10-plus digs in 17 appearances, spearheaded by 20-plus digs in six of those outings. Her 4.37 digs per set rank second in the SEC standings. Defensive specialist Mary Neal has recorded 2.16 digs per set during her freshman season.
