Bulldogs Host Nationally Televised Rivalry Matchup On Sunday

STARKVILLE – Another chapter in the Mississippi State-Ole Miss rivalry will be written on Sunday as the Bulldogs host the Rebels at the Newell-Grissom Building.
First serve is set for 2 p.m. CT and the match will be televised nationally on SEC Network.
"This is one that has been circled on my calendar since the beginning of the season," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "Such a fun rivalry match and for us to be able to host Ole Miss at home is a real treat. I am asking our fans to come out and get loud at The Griss this Sunday because we need them! They are the difference makers for us in The Griss. We love playing at home and we are excited to Pack The Griss on Sunday!"
Admission is free for all home volleyball matches with doors opening one hour prior to first serve. Promotions include DIY tie-dye shirts for the first 100 fans and a cheese fry bar for Mississippi State students.
Libero Lauren Myrick has tallied 10-plus digs in 16 appearances, spearheaded by 20-plus digs in six of those outings. Her 4.49 digs per set rank second in the SEC standings. Defensive Specialist Mary Neal has recorded 2.20 digs per set during her freshman season.
MSU's setting duo, Erin Kline and Emily Oerther, have dished out 7.77 assists per set. Kline registered a season-best 17 assists last weekend against No. 14 Florida, while Oerther also earned a season-high 29 assists against the Gators. Oerther leads the team with 4.59 assists per set.
Graduate setter Alexa Fortin Goede has garnered 4.53 assists and 1.82 digs per set.
Outside hitters Sophie Agee and Karli Schmidt have combined for 20 matches of double-digit kills for the season. Agee has earned a trio of double-doubles and amassed 10 or more kills in nine matches. Schmidt has registered 10-plus kills in 11 outings and cranked 3.03 kills per set on a .227 hitting percentage. Â
Amina Shackelford, SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, has been lights out at the net by earning 1.97 kills per set and tallying 0.85 blocks per set. Right side Caylee Sharkey has tallied 1.05 kills per set on the season.
Middle Blocker Rebecca Walk has earned 1.71 kills per set on a .410 hitting clip, which ranks first on the hitting percentage SEC leaderboard and 14th nationally. She also ranks first on the squad with 1.08 blocks per set and 10th in the SEC.
Sanaa Williams has totaled 1.06 blocks per set, while Zoe Gonzales has recorded 1.03 blocks and 1.03 kills per set.
Mississippi State is 9-9 overall and 2-6 in conference play, while the Rebels are 8-12 overall and 2-7 in league contest.
State has won three of the last four matchups against the Rebels, two of which were played inside the Newell-Grissom Building.
