Bulldogs Drop Four-Set Battle To LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Mississippi State volleyball team dropped a four-set match to LSU on Sunday night inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Bulldogs took the first set, 25-19, but the Tigers bounced back to take the next three sets, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20.
MSU was led on the offensive attack by Sophie Agee with 12 kills while adding two aces. Rebecca Walk followed with nine kills on a .562 hitting percentage.
Right side Amina Shackelford added seven kills on the night. Defensively, Shackelford and Walk tallied six blocks each. Sanaa Williams totaled five kills on a .500 hitting mark and four blocks.
Lauren Myrick sprawled out for 21 digs, while adding two assists and an ace. Mary Neal came away with six digs in the match.
Setter's Alexa Fortin Goede and Emily Oerther combined for 31 assists and 12 digs. Goede provided eight assists and four digs, whereas Oerther led the Bulldogs with 23 assists and added eight digs.
As a team, the Bulldogs registered 42 kills, 48 digs, 37 assists and 18 blocks.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday, Oct. 6, when Mississippi State host Georgia in the Newell-Grissom Building. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. on SEC Network+. State then hosts Texas A&M on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. on SEC Network+
