Volleyball Topped By Bowling Green In Five
September 15, 2022 | Volleyball
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Mississippi State's volleyball team battled back to erase a 2-0 deficit, but Bowling Green emerged with a 3-2 decision [24-26, 23-25, 26-24, 25-16, 8-15] to start the Michigan Challenge on Thursday at Cliff Keen Arena.Â
Â
"It was a really long and tough night for the Bulldogs," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "The match didn't end the way we wanted it to, but we never gave up and we didn't go down without a fight. We have a lot to learn and improve upon. Bowling Green is a tough team that wears you down and wants to stay with you in the long rallies. We have a quick turnaround and we will be ready to compete tomorrow against a very good Michigan team."
Â
Gabby Waden slammed a team-leading 19 kills on a .308 attacking percentage and added four blocks and three digs. Shania Cromartie tallied 14 kills and six digs.Â
Â
Lauren Myrick fired in 12 kills and 12 digs for her third double-double of the season and added two service aces on the night, while Rebecca Walk added nine kills.Â
Â
Gabby Coulter garnered her team-leading fifth double-double of the season with 39 assists and 16 digs.Â
Lilly Gunter came away with 14 digs and eight assists.Â
The Bulldogs take on Michigan on Friday at 6 p.m. CT in their final non-conference contest of the season.Â
