Bulldog Trio Named To Senior Bowl Watch List
August 24, 2022 | Football
STARKVILLE – Three Mississippi State players on the defensive side of the ball have been named to the 10th annual Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List, it was announced by the organization on Wednesday (Aug. 24).
Â
State was represented by defensive linemen Jaden Crumedy and Cameron Young, while linebacker Tyrus Wheat also made the watch list.
Â
Crumedy started all 12 regular season games a season ago, while tallying 20 tackles, including two for losses, as well as one sack, seven quarterback hurries, one pass deflection, a forced fumble and a blocked field goal.
Â
Wheat started every game for Mississippi State last season, while totaling 46 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in 2021. His performance a year ago earned him second team All-SEC accolades.
Â
Young returns in 2022 after starting all 12 games he appeared in last season for the Bulldog defense. Young registered 51 total tackles, including 2.5 for a loss, while he also tallied one interception, two hurries and a pair of pass breakups.
Â
All 484 position players (non-specialists) who made the list were evaluated by the Senior Bowl staff and tape-based grades were logged on hundreds of other senior prospects. Every player on this list is eligible to participate in an all-star game as either a 2018 high school graduate or true four-year player (with five or more games played in three previous seasons). This list does not include many true or redshirt juniors who could become eligible as December 2022 (or earlier) graduates.
Â
Mississippi State is set to begin the 2022 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 3, when the Bulldogs host the Memphis Tigers in a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at Davis Wade Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now at HailState.com/tickets, by calling 1-888-GO-DAWGS or in person at the MSU Athletic Ticket Office on the first floor of the Bryan Athletic Administration Building (288 Lakeview Drive).
