April 09, 2022 | Women's Tennis
STARKVILLE - Mississippi State's women's tennis team is gearing up to host Missouri for their senior day match at 12 p.m. CT at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on Sunday.
The 64th-ranked Bulldogs (10-12, 1-9 SEC) fell in their last time out in a 2-4 loss to No. 35 Arkansas.
Missouri (6-17, 1-9 SEC) have lost eight straight matches, all of which have been against SEC opponents
All-time, MSU is 8-2 against Missouri including a 5-0 record against the Tigers in Starkville.
When Mississippi State wins the doubles point they hold an 8-3 mark. When they win the doubles point at home, the Bulldogs have earned an outstanding 7-1 record.
In singles play, Marta Falceto has been playing great tennis as of late. Falceto has won six straight which is a career-long. Five of these wins have come against SEC opponents.
Sophomore Chloé Cirotte has emerged victorious in four of her past six singles matches. Cirotte has also been dominating the No. 3 spot of the lineup with an 8-2 record, the most wins of any player at any spot on the team.
No. 80 Emmanouela Antonaki leads the team with seven three-set victories. Also, Antonaki is tied for the team-lead in tiebreakers won with Cirotte who have each won four.
In doubles play, the duo of Antonaki and Falceto have won five of their past six decisions, including four wins against SEC opponents. Their biggest victory came against Florida's 34th-ranked duo of Alicia Dudeney and Bente Spee where they dominated by a score of 6-1.
Senior Magda Adaloglou has a chance to shake up the record books this weekend. She needs two wins in singles or doubles to tie former teammate and fellow Greek Anastasia Rentouli (2016-19) for fourth in combined career wins with 150.
