School Record Falls on Final Day of Joe Walker Invite
April 09, 2022 | Track & Field
OXFORD – On the final day in Oxford for the Mississippi State track and field program, Jhordyn Stallworth broke her own school record in the women's discus. Her throw on Saturday afternoon (52.67m) surpassed her previous best (51.01m), which she set at the 2021 SEC Outdoor Championships.
Including Stallworth, the Bulldogs set a total of nine personal bests across six events. MSU also placed 18 top-10 finishers, 11 of which came inside the top five. Shayla Broughton won the Maroon and White's only event for the day, finishing first in the women's heptathlon, while teammate Aley Woodberry finished close behind in third.
MSU will, once again, hit the road next weekend, traveling to Gainesville, Fla., (April 15-16) for the Tom Jones Invitational – hosted by Florida. Both remaining regular-season road meets for the Bulldogs will be hosted by an SEC school (Florida, Alabama).
Women's Results
400m: Aalliyah Francis, Auburn (54.07)
110m Hurdles: Kennedy Broadnax, Ole Miss (13.96)
