Antonaki Named To All-SEC Second Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second straight year, Mississippi State women's tennis standout Emmanouela Antonaki was selected for an award from the Southeastern Conference. Â
Â
On Thursday, Antonaki was named to the All-SEC second team after combining for 43 overall wins for the Bulldogs this season.Â
Â
Antonaki has earned an overall record of 22-16 in singles and 21-15 in doubles. Her career-best 21 doubles victories were the most for MSU during the 2021-22 campaign and her 22 singles wins are tied for the team lead.Â
Â
It was the third time she had posted at least 20 singles and doubles wins in a single season.Â
Â
The senior from Athens, Greece has accumulated a total of seven ranked wins during the season. Her highest ranked win came against Vanderbilt's Anna Ross on the road on April 15. Antonaki is 10-3 against Southern Region opponents, 8-4 in dual play and 9-6 at home.Â

Of Antonaki's 15 dual match victories this spring, 10 of those came at the No. 1 position. She had four separate winning streaks of at least three matches. During SEC play, she strung together a five-match winning streak. Antonaki has remained in the ITA singles rankings the entire season, ranked as highly as 50th nationally.

Antonaki was a first team All-SEC selection as well as an All-American last season. She hopes to continue her 2021-22 season at the NCAA Singles Championships in Urbana, Illinois next month. Draws will be announced on May 3.Â
