Men’s Golf Completes Second Round at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Mississippi State men's golf team completed its second round of competition at the Mason Rudolph Championship on Saturday, finishing with a team score of 1-over par 285 while sitting in a tie for seventh heading into Sunday's final round. State also shot a 285 on Friday.
As a team on Saturday, the Bulldogs tallied 20 birdies and one eagle in the second round of competition.
"We need to continue focusing on the simple things and what makes us be successful," head coach Dusty Smith said. "I thought we played the last two holes well today which will give us momentum heading into the final round. We all need to show up, play with passion and compete our tails off."
Leading the way for State on Saturday were Ben Nelson and Hunter Logan. Nelson posted the best score of the afternoon with a 2-under par 69 which was highlighted by a team-high five birdies, including three straight on holes three through five. Logan concluded the round with a 1-under par 70 for the second consecutive day.
Pretorius found himself in the top 40 of the individual standings after shooting a 1-over par 72 on Saturday. Following closely behind on Saturday were Cruz Silva, Clegg and Nimmo who all shot a 3-over par 74 during the second round of competition.
The Bulldogs will tee off on Hole 1 Sunday with the first group starting at 9:10 and the final group going at 9:50 a.m. State will be playing the final round with Louisiana Tech and Virginia.
