Women’s Tennis Heads To Florida For SEC Championship

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Mississippi State's women's tennis team is set to face Missouri in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday at 11 a.m. CT in Gainesville, Fla.
The 67th-ranked Bulldogs (11-14, 2-11 SEC) head to Gainesville after beating No. 58 Kentucky on the road by a score of 4-1.
Missouri (7-19, 2-11 SEC) has lost its last two matches against LSU and No. 7 Texas A&M respectively.
The last time MSU faced the Tigers was on April 10th in Starkville where the Tigers emerged victorious by a score of 4-3. However, State holds the all-time edge over Missouri with an 8-3 mark.
Several Bulldogs enter the SEC Tournament on hot streaks in singles play.
Marta Falceto has won seven of her last nine matches, including six wins over SEC opponents which leads the team.
No. 81 Emmanouela Antonaki comes in having won three straight matches, all in straight sets. Also, Antonaki upset 44th-ranked Anna Ross of Vanderbilt 6-2, 6-0 on the road this past weekend.
Reigning ITA Southern Region Rookie of the Year Chloé Cirotte has earned a victory in six of her last eight decisions.
In doubles play, the duo of Antonaki and Falceto have been playing at an elite level. They have emerged victorious in seven of their past eight matches including their highest ranked-win together over Florida's 34th-ranked pairing of Alicia Dudeney and Bentee Spee by a score of 6-1.
The tandem of Chloé Cirotte and Alexandra Mikhailuk have gathered three victories in only four matches played together.
With one doubles win, Cirotte has a chance to become one of three Bulldogs since the 2016-17 season to achieve 20 singles wins and 20 doubles wins in a single season with Jasmine Lee (16-17) and her teammate Emmanouela Antonaki (18-19, 21-22)
