Mississippi State's bats were hot from the start after taking an early lead in the first from a Kamren James home run to left field. The Bulldogs scored in every inning, except for the third, including two five-run innings in the second and fifth and a four-run inning in the sixth to make the final score 17-2. Jack Walker received his first win of the year on the mound.
For the Bulldogs, Walker (1-0) started and earned the win after allowing no runs on two hits during his three innings on the mound to secure his first win of the year. Four Dawgs followed Walker – Andrew Walling, Lane Forsythe, Mikey Tepper and Jackson Fristoe. Walling, Tepper and Fristoe pitched scoreless innings during each of their one inning on the mound. Forsythe allowed two runs on one hit during his appearance in the fifth inning. Fristoe came on in the seventh to secure the win.
The Diamond Dawgs offensively went .517 with runners in scoring position and had two Dawgs collect multi-hit games and five collect multi-run games. James went 3-for-4 including two doubles, a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs. RJ Yeager went 2-for-4 including a grand slam in the sixth – his 11th home run of the year – and collected six RBIs. Hunter Hines, Slate Alford and Kellum Clark all scored two runs which helped push the team to victory.

The Bulldogs increased their lead by five runs after a Hunter Hines double to right field followed by a Slate Alford and Kellum Clark walk. Brad Cumbest hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Hines. Tanner Leggett singled to shortstop which scored Alford followed by a RJ Yeager double down the left field line which scored Clark and Leggett. Luke Hancock walked and Yeager scored on a wild pitch.

The Dawgs scored two runs on a two-out rally to make the score, 8-0, after Cumbest walked followed by a James double to left center to bring in Cumbest. Hancock singled down the right field line to bring James home.

JSU put two runs on the board after a Devontae Rhodes walk followed by a Ty Hill home run to left field.

The Bulldogs scored five runs to increase the score to 13-2 after a Hines and Alford walk followed by a Clark single through the right side. Jess Davis hit a sacrifice fly to score Hines. Yeager walked before James doubled down the left field which scored Alford and Clark. Hancock reached on a throwing error by JSU's shortstop, Omar Gomez – Yeager and James scored.

MSU increased their score by four after David Meche, Matt Corder and Davis all walked to load the bases followed by a Yeager grand slam.
