Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth at 50th Annual VyStar Gators Invitational

Gainesville, Fla. – Mississippi State women's golf completed the final round from Gainesville on Sunday. The No. 33 ranked Bulldogs finished fourth out of a field that featured 13 of the 15 teams competing ranked in the top-50.

State was led by a pair of top-five performances from Hannah Levi and Julia Lopez Ramirez who both finished the tournament tied for fourth with two-over-par (212).

Lopez Ramirez used a strong third-round score of 69 (1-under) to climb up the leaderboard on the final day. Lopez Ramirez now has six top-five finishes in the nine events she has competed in so far in her career and further extended the freshman record for rounds in the 60s (9).

Levi used a third-round score 1-over (71) to add a fifth top-five finish to her Bulldog career. Levi sunk 38 pars throughout the tournament (fourth-most) and remained in the top-10 throughout the entirety of the event.

The duo of Ashley Gilliam and Blair Stockett added a pair of top-30 finishes to help the Bulldogs. Gilliam finished tied for 22^nd with a final tally of 7-over par (217). Stockett finished tied for 26^th with 8-over par (218). Gilliam and Stockett both carded 37 pars throughout the event (fifth-most).

Rounding out the scoring for MSU is Ana Pina Ortega who finished 67^th with a final score of 23-over (233). Pina Ortega sunk 11 pars in the final round including five straight holes (1-5).

The Mississippi State women's golf squad will return to the course for the annual Liz Murphey tournament hosted by the University of Georgia on March 25^th. The tournament will be a three-day event with tee times and pairings TBD.
