Dawgs Secure Series Over Tide With Second Straight Walk-Off

Tanner Leggett's walk-off RBI single in the ninth gave State the 8-7 victory
Alabama scored three runs in the top of the ninth to break up a 4-4 game, but the Diamond Dawgs rallied in the bottom half with back-to-back doubles by Kamren James and Kellum Clark, followed by a wall-scraping two-run home run to left by Logan Tanner that tied the game at 7-7.
After Luke Hancock drew a walk and Cumbest advanced him to second on a base hit, Tanner Leggett played the role of hero for the Dawgs and drove in the game-winning run on a base hit to left field.
Parker Stinnett delivered in his start on the mound, giving the Bulldogs 5.2 innings, while allowing five hits, three runs and striking out eight. Pico Kohn came on in relief in the sixth inning and only allowed one run on a hit through 2.1 innings. Jackson Fristoe earned his second win of the year and moved to 2-2 on the season after pitching an inning of relief in the ninth.
The Dude Effect was in full effect during the win as 14,077 fans were in attendance at Saturday's game. It marks the seventh-largest crowd in Mississippi State baseball history and the fifth crowd of over 10,000 fans this season.

State got on the board first after Logan Tanner reached on a leadoff hit-by-pitch and Luke Hancock hit a two-run homer down the right field line for his second home run of the season and the 12th of his Bulldog career.

Top Sixth
Alabama scored its first run of the game on an RBI-single up the middle by Tommy Siedl to bring in Jim Jarvis. Zane Denton got Tommy Siedl home on a two-out RBI double to centerfield. Dominic Tamez brought home the third Crimson Tide run of the inning with an RBI single through the left side to score Zane Denton.

After Hunter Hines reached on a fielding error and Luke Hancock advanced him after being hit by a pitch, RJ Yeager drove in the tying run with a one-out single up the middle to score Hines.

Andrew Pinckney hit a leadoff solo home run to centerfield to give Alabama a one-run lead.

Bottom Eighth
Hunter Hines reached on a one-out single and was replaced by pinch runner Brayland Skinner. Skinner advance to third after Luke Hancock reached first on a fielding error. Skinner scored the tying run on a wild pitch by Hunter Furtado.

After a leadoff double by Andrew Pinckney, Caden Rose drove home the go-ahead run with a double down the right field line. Jim Jarvis drove in Rose with a single up the middle on the first pitch he saw. Tommy Seidl brought home the third run of the inning for the Tide with a double to right-center, scoring Jarvis from first.

Bottom Ninth
State scored its first run of the inning on back-to-back doubles by Kamren James and Kellum Clark. Logan Tanner then tied the game with a two-run home run to left field. Hancock drew a one-out walk and Brad Cumbest advanced him with a single to left. RJ Yeager advanced Hancock and Cumbest to second and third on a groundout. Tanner Leggett then drove in the winning run with a walk-off single to left field.

Mississippi State will face Alabama in the series finale at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, at Dudy Noble Field. The game will be broadcasted on SEC Network and Mississippi State Radio Network.
