
State Finishes Day One of Louisiana Classics

LAFAYETTE, La. – After a 36-hole competition day with cloudy skies and 16 mph winds, Mississippi State sits in 13th place heading into the final round of the Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.

The Bulldogs shot an overall score of 7-over through two rounds. As a team, State collected 33 birdies and two eagles. On par-five's, State had an average of 4.73 with an 11-under score.

Senior Ford Clegg leads the Bulldogs at 2-under and is tied for 20th on the leaderboard. Clegg completed a bogey-free back nine and tacked on four birdies in his last six holes during the second round.

Bulldogs Hunter Logan and Pedro Cruz Silva are tied together at 45th place at 3-over. Logan shot overall steady golf going even for par on 26 holes. Cruz Silva added six birdies and an eagle during his first day of competition.

Graduate Ruan Pretorius is placed tied for 48th at 4-over. Pretorius collected nine birdies and an eagle in Rounds 1 & 2. Freshman Jay Nimmo is tied for 58th place heading into the final round.

The third round of the Louisiana Classics will be broadcasted on ESPN+ starting at 9:15 a.m. CT. State will begin competition of the final round with a fixed start from Holes 1 & 10.
