Women’s Golf Set to Compete in Westbrook Invitational

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State women's golf team is set to return to the course on Sunday for their second event of the Spring as they travel to the Grand Canyon State to compete in the Westbrook Invitational.
The 2022 edition of the Westbrook Invitational will be the first since 2020 where the Bulldogs earned a record-breaking team victory. In 2020, State posted the sixth-best team round in NCAA history as they secured a 32-under par finish (12th lowest 54-hole score in relation to par in Division 1 history) to capture the title. State holds two team Westbrook Invitational records including the lowest score after 18-holes (270) and lowest score after 54-holes (832).
The No. 32 Bulldogs will play 54 holes over two days at the par-72 6,230-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club against a 14-team field. The field consists of hosts Wisconsin, No. 34 UNLV, No. 48 Oklahoma, College of Charleston, Denver, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Redshirt-senior Blair Stockett will lead off things for the Dawgs. In her previous outing, Stockett posted her fifth top-ten finish in her career and finished tied for seventh with a score of 7-under.
In her spring debut, Junior Ashley Gilliam will shoot second. In the 2020 Westbrook Invitational, Gilliam finished tied for second with a score of 13-under.
Junior Hannah Levi will shoot third. In her previous outing, Levi posted an even-par score of 216 to place tied for 26th.
Freshman Ana Pina Ortega will make her second career appearance for the Bulldogs shooting fourth. Her debut came in the 2021 edition of The Ally as an individual.
Rounding out the Bulldogs lineup is freshman Julia Lopez Ramirez. In her last appearance, Lopez Ramirez broke three school records en route to capturing her second career individual title.
