Broughton, Crump, Poe, DMR Score First Points for Bulldogs

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Mississippi State track and field program had multiple Bulldogs score points on the first day of the SEC Indoor Championships.

MSU's day began in the pentathlon, featuring Shayla Broughton, Kennedy Jackson, Asia Poe and Aley Woodberry. The Bulldogs racked up six different personal bests across the five events, eventually ending with two top-five finishes for the conference championship's opening event. Broughton (second) and Poe (fifth) gave the MSU women's program its first 12 points of the weekend.
On the men's side, Cameron Crump brought home five points for the Bulldogs in the long jump. The distance medley relay crew (Daniel Joyce, Tyrese Reid, Gabriel Moronta, Navasky Anderson) hauled in an additional point in the final event of the day.

- Broughton extended her pentathlon personal bests in high jump (1.76m; 5'9.25") and shot put (12.37m; 40'7") and points (4,260 pts).
- Poe extended her 800m personal best and upped her pentathlon-point-total to 4,081 which is now third all-time in MSU history.
- Jackson extended her personal best in the high jump, while teammate Woodberry extended her 60-meter-hurdle time.
- Okheme Moore and Shamar Rose each recorded new season-best times in the 60 meters.
- Event partners Hayley Ogle and Sydney Steely both extended their personal-best time in the 800-meter prelims. Sydney's run advanced her to tomorrow's final.
- Jesse Henderson's run in the 60-meter hurdles advanced him to tomorrow's final.
- Rosealee Cooper's 60-meter-hurdle run became the program's second fastest time for the event and secured her a place in tomorrow's final.
- Keldrick Edwards extended his time in the 200 meters.
