NEW PROVIDENCE, BAHAMAS – Mississippi State men's golf program will travel to New Providence, Bahamas to compete in the 2022 Nexus Collegiate to begin their spring season. The Bulldogs will compete for three days from Feb. 14-16 at the Albany Golf Course.
The Nexus Collegiate is a debut tournament held at the par-72, 7,414-yard course. The Bulldogs will face off with eight other teams including host No. 22 Auburn, Clemson, Indiana, Ohio State, Charlotte, North Florida, Chattanooga and Jacksonville State.
"This is going to be a great test for us this week," head coach Dusty Smith said. "It is a championship golf course, and it is going to challenge our discipline and toughness. We have been talking a lot about how doing the small things great, leads to great things. That is where our focus is and needs to be."
"I'm fully confident in our team's ability to focus on the right things at the right time, to be accepting of shots, to have great awareness and to adapt mentally and physically to every situation thrown at them."Â
Leading State, senior Ford Clegg will take the No. 1 spot. Clegg competed in every event of the fall posting a 70.00 stroke-average, which leads the team. He finished in the top-20 in every stroke-play tournament in the fall and won the individual title at the 2021 Steelwood Collegiate in his last outing.
Mississippi State will begin the first round of competition on Monday, February 14th, at approximately 8:00 a.m. CT.
