Bulldogs Drop Five-Set Battle To LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Mississippi State volleyball team dropped a tightly-contested five-set match to LSU on Saturday night inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The Bulldogs took the first set, 25-20, but the Tigers bounced back to take the next two sets 25-20, 25-13. MSU forced a fifth set after taking the fourth set 25-21, but LSU took the match with a 15-10 victory in the fifth.

Gabby Coulter and Katie Culumovic combined for 46 assists and 31 digs. Coulter earned her team-leading twelfth double-double with 35 assists and 19 digs, while adding an ace. Culumovic garnered her first double-double of the season with 11 assists and 12 digs.

Gabby Waden tallied a team-leading 18 kills, while adding three blocks and three digs. Shania Cromartie followed suit by recording her eighth double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs.

Deja Robinson and Sania Petties each recorded eight kills apiece on the night. Robinson issued a .304 hitting clip, while adding three blocks. Petties garnered three blocks, two digs, one assists and an ace.

Lilly Gunter came away with 28 digs and five assists on the night.

The Bulldogs face LSU again tomorrow, Oct. 30, for another match. First serve is set for 1 p.m. CT.
