Bulldogs Wrap Up SEC Action

OXFORD, Miss. – Mississippi State cross country competed at the SEC Championships Friday morning, held at the Ole Miss Golf Course.

"I'm proud of the young ladies and the things that they were able to improve upon this year," head track and field coach Chris Woods said. "There's still no excuses for the result from earlier today but we have made complete turnarounds with some intangible things within the program. We will continue to work on those things and look forward to having a much better show and get these championships next fall."

The Bulldogs earned 14th-place as a team, highlighted by a top-65 performance by Madison Jones. The Maroon and White's top finisher covered the 6k course in a time of 21:24.22 in Oxford, as teammate Hayley Ogle crossed the line 33 seconds later for a 21:57.62 finish. Zoe Brito (22:16.05) and team captain Mary Beth Woodward (22:21.13) were the next two Bulldogs to finish in Oxford, with Woodward coming two seconds shy from tying her PR for a 6k race.

The last Bulldogs to cross the line were Gracie Gibson (22:49.25), Savannah McIntosh (23:02.18), Hunter Anderson (23:19.89) and Grace Ritchie (23:59.10).

It was the first time running a 6k course for Anderson, Brito, Gibson, McIntosh, Ogle and Ritchie.

Alabama took the team title in the women's 6K with 36 points and four top-10 finishers. Parker Valby of Florida took home the individual title with a time of 18:25.87.
