Bulldogs Drop A Five-Set Battle To South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Mississippi State volleyball team dropped a five-set battle to South Carolina on Wednesday night at the Carolina Volleyball Center.
South Carolina took the first two sets 25-21, 25-18, but the Bulldogs stormed back to the take the third set 25-22 and forced a deciding fifth set with a 25-16 victory. Ultimately, the Gamecocks closed out the match with a 15-12 win.
Lilly Gunter earned 1,000 career digs during the match against the Gamecocks. During the match, she recorded 22 digs while adding three assists.
Gabby Coulter and Katie Culumovic combined for 39 assists and 16 digs. Coulter issued her team-leading eleventh double-double with 28 assists and 13 digs.
Gabby Waden tallied a team-leading 17 kills, while adding two digs and one block. Sania Petties followed suit by recording nine kills on a .571 hitting clip, while also adding four blocks and two digs.
Shania Cromartie registered eight kills, seven digs, one assists and an ace. Deja Robinson and Rebecca Walk issued five kills apiece. Robinson added a team-leading five blocks, while Walk added two blocks and a dig.
Freshman Sophie Agee recorded a season-high six kills on the night. Agee also added one dig and one block.
The Bulldogs head back home to take on Ole Miss with first serve set for 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The match will be aired on ESPNU and all matches are free to attend.
