State Wins Six On Day 1 Of ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla., - Mississippi State men's tennis enjoyed a solid start on the first day of the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday.
The Bulldogs picked up six singles victories during the first and second rounds of prequalifying and are sending Ewen Lumsden and Carles Hernandez on to Sunday's third round.
Lumsden and Hernandez picked up a pair of wins each on Saturday. Lumsden lost his first set to Gonzaga's Oliver Andersson 6-2 but bounced back in the second and third 6-3 and 7-5 for the win. Later that afternoon, Lumsden downed Stefan Storch of Texas A&M in straight sets 6-1, 7-6(4).
Hernandez took care of Kerim Hyatt of UT-Chattanooga 7-5, 7-6(4) in the opening round and then dispatched Wichita State's Orel Ovil 6-3, 6-1.
Lumsden is set to battle Boris Kozlov of Tennessee on Sunday while Hernandez takes on Penn State's Loren Byers. Both matches are slated for 10 a.m. starts.
Gregor Ramskogler and Petar Jovanovic also earned opening round wins for MSU. Ramskogler started Saturday's action with a 6-4, 6-3 victory against Eshan Talluri of Texas while Jovanovic took down Toledo's Adam Kovac 6-4, 6-2.
Ramskogler fell in the second round to Florida's Jonah Braswell 6-3, 6-3 while Jovanovic was defeated 6-1, 6-3 by Guillaume Dalmasso of Santa Clara.
Patrick Lazo lost his first-round match to Texas A&M's Rahul Dhokia 6-1, 6-4.
Lazo will play UNLV's Dusan Rsovac in a prequalifying consolation match on Sunday at 8 a.m. Seth Richey and Benito Sanchez Martinez will also be in action in the prequalifying consolation bracket. Richey takes on Oklahoma's Aiden Robinson at 12:15 p.m. while Sanchez Martinez meets Benjamin Kittay of North Carolina at 1 p.m.
