Track and Field Returns to Birmingham for Second Week of Competition

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After last week's 15 personal bests, the Mississippi State track and field program looks to build upon the season-opening success, as eyes shift toward the Samford University Open.
"Our biggest thing is to just continue developing on the things we have done up until this point," head coach Chris Woods said. "It's important for us to go and get on that surface in Birmingham a couple of times, because that's where the National Championship meet is going to be at."
As Woods alluded to, this year's National Indoor Championships will be held at the Birmingham Crossplex– the same city and venue in which the Bulldogs will have competed in during the first two weekends of this season.
"For the coaches and the student-athletes, we're using this as an opportunity to have a dry run on the same competition area later this season," Woods said.
MSU's first event will be the women's weight throw, scheduled to start at Noon, with the Men's 4x400 concluding the meet.
