TF Closes Weekend With Three More Wins
March 27, 2021 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State track and field's Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays came to an abrupt close on Saturday evening due to inclement weather, but the day saw three Bulldog wins before the meet's finish.Â
Â
Overall, the annual home meet for MSU was a success, with wins on both days and hosting 26 institutions to compete.
Â
For many competitors, this was the first time they were getting the opportunity to showcase their crafts for a year or more. All event groups finally had the chance to perform after last season's outdoor competition was canceled due to COVID-19.
Â
The JavU men took the top-5 slots despite the event being cut short due to lightning in the area. Anderson Peters competed unattached and took the top spot, with Curtis Thompson also competing unattached and taking third. For those wearing the maroon and white, Sindri Guðmundsson came in second, Tyriq Horsford in fourth, and Dagbjartur DJ Jónsson in fifth.
Â
On the women's side of JavU, Sarah Blake took the first place slot at 50.27m, with Caroline Standley in third at 42.96m. In 11th was Jenna Oetting with a mark at 28.74m.
Â
Shayla Broughton won the 100m hurdles, finishing with a personal-best time of 13.50. Asia Poe and Aley Woodberry also set new personal-bests in the event.
Â
In the relays, the lineup of Cameron Crump, Okheme Moore, Jesse Henderson and Keldrick Edwards took first place in 40.05 for the 4x100m relay.
Maddy Kish had a mark of 3.90m in the pole vault, breaking into the top-5 all-time at State as the No. 2 with that height. She placed second in the event while Julia Lasley placed eighth.
Â
There were many top-3 and top-5 finishes for the Bulldogs across the board on day two of the meet. Full meet results for the Bulldogs can be found below.
