First Day of Bulldog Relays Sees Four Wins for State

STARKVILLE – The first meet of the outdoor season started off well for the Bulldogs of Mississippi State, with several first-place finishes on day one of the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays.
Starting off action for the day were the men's and women's hammer throws, with Francesca Chambers finishing in fourth with a new personal best on the women's side. Trent Zelden came in 14th for the men, while Daniel Pepper fouled.
Continuing field action, Jhordyn Stallworth came in fourth in the women's discus. In the men's discus, Jeremiah Pierce finished fourth, Cade Finley finished seventh, and Daniel Pepper was ninth.
The high jump saw great action on the women's side, with Asia Poe coming in first place with a new personal-best height of 1.77m. In second was Helen Claire Edmonds, while Aley Woodberry came in fifth and Emilia Lesniak finished in eighth. Woodberry finished at a personal best as well, at 1.67m. Both Tierra Hooker and Kennedy Jackson finished at a no height.
The relays started off with the 4x800m, with the Bulldog women coming in second place at 9:07.58 with the group of Zoe Brito, Emma Tucker, Breja Hooks, and Ashley Melcherts. The men's squad came in first place with the lineup of Gabriel Moronta, Freddie Jackson III, Omari Hammond, and Giacomo DeLuca. DeLuca sealed the deal, crossing the finish line in 7:43.74.
The 400m dash had freshman Jada McDougle come in fourth place at 55.20, with teammates San'Toria Harris coming in 12th and Shar Nichols coming in 29th. On the men's side, Leon Clarke took first place with a personal best 47.50. In 12th was Keldrick Edwards, in 14th was Montel Hood, tied for 38th was Okheme Moore, and in 41st was Kareem Agostino.
The triple jump saw several Bulldogs make the finals, with Amy Warren coming in first and breaking into the top-five all-time at Mississippi State at 12.69m. Alexis Farley came in fifth, and Jada Grant rounded out the Bulldogs performances in 11th. On the men's side, Keshun Byrd finished in second with a new PR of 15.58m.
In the men's 4x200m relay, the lineup of Sema'J Daniels, Cameron Crump, Jordan Barrow, and Samuel Smith came in second place in 1:25.99.
Finishing off the day was the men's 5000m, with five Bulldogs running. Lake Spradling had the fastest time of the Dawgs, coming in 14th in 15:21.38. In 15th was Jacob Warner, 26th was Colby Freeman, 29th was Luke Zacharias, and in 32nd was Matthew Ray.
