State True Freshman Cirotte Garners SEC Women’s Tennis Weekly Honor Once Again

STARKVILLE – For the second-straight week, Mississippi State women's tennis rookie Chloé Cirotte has earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week laurels, being named Co-Freshman of the Week this week, the SEC announced Wednesday.
Cirotte became the second player in MSU program history to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors on multiple occasions during her initial campaign in Starkville, and she has completed the feat in just a month and a half of competition in the Maroon and White. The rookie has garnered the recognition in back-to-back weeks (Feb. 10 and Feb. 17).
In State's 7-0 shutout over Tulane this past Sunday, Cirotte defeated Charlotte Russell 6-4, 6-4 to keep MSU perfect (8-0) and help the team match its best season start in program history.
Cirotte owns a perfect 7-0 record in singles dual matches in her first campaign in Starkville, where she has limited her foe to just three games or less in five of her seven singles outings. The Orléans, France, product is 8-1 in singles matches overall and 4-3 in doubles with two different partners thus far in her MSU career. She has won her last 10 singles and doubles decisions combined.
Wednesday's recognition is the third SEC weekly honor for the Bulldogs already this season, and second for Cirotte. Emma Antonaki also garnered SEC Player of the Week laurels on Jan. 28.
Cirotte and the undefeated Bulldogs appeared in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Top 25 national rankings, also announced Wednesday, coming in tied 25th with Arizona State. In its eight matches thus far in 2021, State has only dropped two points total to its opponents.
