MSU’s Cirotte Earns SEC Women’s Tennis Freshman Of The Week Honors

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's tennis rookie Chloé Cirotte has been named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the Southeastern Conference announced on Wednesday.
"This is a nice honor for Chloé," head coach Daryl Greenan said. "I am excited about what she brings to our program. Chloé has a bright future in college. We are proud of her efforts so far as a Bulldog."
Cirotte surrendered just three games in her two singles matches this week while compiling a perfect 4-0 record in singles and doubles in State's two shutouts over UAB and North Alabama to help keep the Bulldogs perfect (7-0) in 2021.
The true freshman notched two straight-set singles wins including a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory for the second time this season, downing the Lions' Nicole Reilly on Sunday. On Saturday, she defeated Sydney Clark of UAB 6-2, 6-1. She recorded the first singles point for MSU in both victories and the two triumphs contributed to Cirotte's perfect 6-0 singles ledger in dual matches in her first campaign in Starkville.
In doubles, alongside Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine in the top two spots in the lineup, Cirotte was 2-0 for the weekend as well.
The Orléans, France, native has won her last nine singles and doubles decisions combined. In six of her seven singles victories this spring, she has limited her foe to just three games or less.
Wednesday's recognition is the second SEC weekly honor for the Bulldogs already this season as Emma Antonaki earned SEC Player of the Week laurels on Jan. 28.
Cirotte and the undefeated Bulldogs return to action Sunday, hosting Tulane in their last non-conference test before SEC action begins on Feb. 18.
