Soccer Travels to Face No. 4 Arkansas
October 23, 2021 | Soccer
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State will look to carry its momentum from Thursday night's win into a Sunday night battle at No. 4 Arkansas. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
Â
MSU (4-7-3, 2-5-1 SEC) kept its SEC Tournament hopes alive after netting a pair of late goals over Texas A&M in the final four minutes. The Razorbacks (13-2, 8-0 SEC) enter the contest with a share of the SEC title already secured.
Â
"Arkansas has been the best team in the conference this year, so we know this will be a really tough test," head coach James Armstrong said. "We know we will have to compete at our very best in order to make it the game we want it to be."
Â
After dropping the first two games of the season, the Razorbacks are currently riding a 13-match win streak. Sunday night will be the toughest test of the season for the Bulldog soccer program. Both of State's final regular season opponents sit at the top of the conference standings and are also ranked in the top 15 in the latest United Soccer Coaches' poll.
Â
The Bulldogs will return home for the Magnolia Cup next Thursday, Oct. 28, against in-state rival No. 13 Ole Miss. Kickoff in that match is set for 7 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
