MSU Women’s Tennis Announces 2021 Schedule

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State women's tennis team announced its 2021 spring schedule on Thursday.
State looks to pick up where it left off when the 2020 campaign was cut short last spring. The Bulldogs were 9-5, 2-2 in the SEC, and had won five of their last seven contests when play was halted in mid-March.
"We are all excited for our spring 2021 season," 12th-year head coach Daryl Greenan said. "I think after having the 2020 campaign shut down, everyone's level of anticipation is higher than usual. We hope to stay safe following an excellent COVID-19 protocol set up by the SEC and our athletic department. I am impressed with our student-athletes' resiliency in these challenging times. Their commitment has served them well, and they have done a good job preparing for the spring despite many limitations."
MSU's 2021 slate features 22 regular season matches, including 15 home contests.
The Bulldogs will face 12 teams that finished last season ranked in the top 50 of the final ITA rankings, six among the top 25.
A nine-match non-conference schedule will serve as preparation for an always-strong SEC field of competition, including nine contests at home against Southern Miss (Jan. 15), Memphis (Jan. 29), Southeastern Louisiana (Jan. 31), Samford (Jan. 31), UAB (Feb. 6), a doubleheader with North Alabama (Feb. 7) and Tulane (Feb. 14). A lone road match at Furman (Jan. 24) rounds out the non-SEC schedule for State's ladies.
In addition, Memphis, Ole Miss and Georgia Tech will join the Maroon and White in the Bulldog Kickoff – an individual tournament - Jan. 16-18.
State opens 2021 Southeastern Conference play with a pair of road games at Arkansas (Feb. 18) and Missouri (Feb. 20), before returning home to host Tennessee (Feb. 26) and Georgia (Feb. 28) to close out February's competition.
In March, Mississippi State kicks off a four-match road trip with a visit to Texas A&M (March 5) and then travels to LSU (March 7) two days later. The Maroon and White then travel east for road tests against Auburn (March 11) and Alabama (March 13).
A five-match homestand concludes the Bulldogs' regular season with matches against South Carolina (March 25), Florida (March 27), Ole Miss (April 2), Kentucky (April 8) and Vanderbilt (April 10).
Alabama will host the 2021 SEC Women's Tennis Championship in Tuscaloosa, April 19-23. The NCAA Team & Individual Championships are slated as usual during the month of May.
