COVID/Attendance Protocols Announced For 2021 MSU Tennis

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State has announced attendance and COVID protocols for 2021 MSU Men's and Women's Tennis home matches. Both teams will open their 2021 home slate this Friday.
In accordance with the CDC, Mississippi State Department of Health, and the Southeastern Conference, MSU Athletics will implement measures to provide a healthy and safe environment for our student athletes and visiting teams for the 2021 season. MSU Men's & Women's Tennis fans and visitors should be aware of the following attendance protocols, related to the COVID-19 pandemic, that will be in place for the 2021 season. All of the information provided below is subject to change.
In accordance with the CDC, Mississippi State Department of Health, and the Southeastern Conference, MSU Athletics will implement measures to provide a healthy and safe environment for our student athletes and visiting teams for the 2021 season. MSU Men's & Women's Tennis fans and visitors should be aware of the following attendance protocols, related to the COVID-19 pandemic, that will be in place for the 2021 season. All of the information provided below is subject to change.
- For all home dates with more than one men's and women's match scheduled on that date (Jan 15,16,17,18,29,31 & Feb 7) - NO spectators will be permitted to attend matches. This includes both outdoor and/or indoor matches.
- For all home dates with a single men's or single women's match scheduled (Jan 22,24 & Feb 5, 6, 13,14 & all Southeastern Conference matches) – Per current MS Governor Executive order, a limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend outdoor matches at 25% of available seating capacity in the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. If a match on any of these dates is played or moved indoors into the Rula Tennis Pavilion, NO spectators will be allowed.
- In accordance with all current policies, when attendance is allowed at the Pitts Tennis Centre, properly spaced and marked grandstand seating will be available in groups of two and three seat pods in the main grandstand on a first come-first serve basis. Within this seating area, an allotment of seats for each match will be available for home and visiting team player guests. Any remaining seats will be made available at the gate to the public.
- Public access to team only or competition areas is not permitted at any time. Competition areas include all team spaces, walkways and sidewalks around the playing surface and any closed stadium seating areas.
- In accordance with current guidelines, face coverings over the nose and mouth shall be required as a condition of guest entry and exit, as well as movement throughout the facility, and any time guests are unable to maintain the recommended physical distance from others who are not in their same household or when actively eating or drinking.
- In accordance with current guidelines, policies and regulations, all game day and event day social gatherings outside the stadium shall be strictly prohibited. This includes tailgating, picnics, fan zones and similar activities. This is inclusive of parking lots and all tented areas on campus grounds.
- All guests, employees and stadium workers will conduct a Self-Screening prior to leaving home. Per MSU Guidelines, this should include an "at-home" temperature check, and review of potential COVID-19 symptoms including cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, and a new loss of taste or smell. If anyone has any of these symptoms or a fever of greater than 100.4 degrees, the person should stay at home.
- Enhanced cleaning and sanitation procedures will take place throughout the stadium prior to and during all matches and will also feature an increased number of hand sanitizer stations.
- If SEC or state guidelines change or are updated to safely permit public spectators indoors, or seating capacity restrictions change for athletic events, adjustments/revisions to the above game management protocols will be made.
