Men’s Golf Earns GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State men's golf was named a recipient of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Outstanding Team Academic Award on Thursday (July 23).
The distinction was awarded to collegiate programs on all levels who attained grade-point averages above a 3.0 mark. State's was bolstered by Ford Clegg, Cameron Clarke and Ben Nelson, who all earned All-America scholar recognition from GCAA.
Academic success has been a staple of the Dusty Smith era. In the last three seasons since Smith was named head coach, the Bulldogs have earned five GCAA All-America Scholar selections. In addition, in each season the Bulldogs have had 10 SEC Academic honorees, combining Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll members and SEC First-Year Honor Roll selections.
