No. 41 Bulldogs Host Arkansas Friday To Open 2020 SEC Slate

STARKVILLE – Riding a two-match win streak to close out non-conference play, the 41st-ranked Mississippi State men's tennis team is set to open the always-taxing SEC slate, welcoming Arkansas at 3 p.m. Friday to the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
The Bulldogs (8-4) will face the Razorbacks (4-4) with hopes of keeping their 15-match SEC win streak at home in tact. MSU has not dropped and SEC home affair since the 2017 campaign. State is coming off a dominating performance last weekend at home against Tennessee State, beating the Tigers 6-1 and 4-0 in a double header.

MSU In The Oracle ITA National Rankings…
The Bulldogs are currently ranked 41st nationally as a team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in this week's latest poll. In the ITA national singles rankings, two-time All-American senior Giovanni Oradini leads the Bulldogs at No. 39 in the country. Junior Florian Broska comes up next at the No. 73 in the country. State's top doubles pair of Broska and Nicolas Ocana is currently ranked No. 34 in the country.
Know The Foe: Arkansas
Arkansas will enter the weekend with a 4-4 record, coming off of a tough 4-3 setback at Tulsa Feb. 19 in its most recent match. The Razorbacks enter the match with junior Alex Reco leading the team in the rankings at No. 111 nationally. Reco has played majority of the season so far at the No. 2 position. Arkansas is guided by seventh-year head coach Andy Jackson who was MSU's head coach from 1989-2001.

Following Friday's affair, the Bulldogs will head to Knoxville, Tennessee, next Friday, March 6, to face the 10th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers at 5 p.m. CT before heading to Athens, Georgia, on Sunday, March 8, to face No. 35 Georgia at 12 p.m. CT.

- The Bulldogs have won 30 of their last 33 regular season matches at home.
- MSU has won 15 consecutive SEC home matches, dating back to the 2017 campaign.
- State sophomore Gregor Ramskogler earned SEC Player of the Week honors this week after a dominating performance last weekend, going 4-0 against Tennessee State. He is 16-5 in singles since mid-October.
- MSU junior Florian Broska currently holds the highest win percentage on the team (75%) and leads MSU with an 8-2 dual match record. The junior is 17-3 in singles since mid-October.
- The No. 3 doubles pair of Alberto Colas and Gregor Ramskogler is on a four-match win streak while holding State's highest win percentage (87.5%) on the doubles side with a 7-1 record in dual matches.
