Peoria, Ariz. – The Mississippi State women's golf team makes its return to action this weekend, opening the spring season at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona, on Feb. 23-24.
The Bulldogs will play 54 holes over two days at the Par-72, 6,252-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club - Vistas Course. The 16-team field boasts two other SEC squads with Missouri and Tennessee in the mix. Fans can follow along during the tournament at BirdieFire.com.
Head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm is looking forward to seeing how her team matches up against a competitive field this weekend.
"We are ready to play, in spite of the flooded conditions we have negotiated this spring," said Brown-Lemm. "We have spent lots of time indoors at the practice facility and gotten some great work in, but nothing takes place of playing in tournament conditions. This team is very excited about teeing it up. We will play one shot at a time and focus on the things we can control."
The five Bulldogs in the lineup for the event are Abbey Daniel, Clara Moyano, Lauren Miller, Blair Stockett and Ashley Gilliam. State will tee off the opening round Sunday with a 9 a.m. CT start and will play round two afterwards. MSU will conclude the tournament on Monday morning.
During the fall season, the Mississippi State women's golf team collected a season-best 2nd place finish at the Magnolia Invitational. In addition, the Dawgs earned a Top-25 GolfWeek ranking spot following their strong fall slate.
