
Devroe to Run 800m at JDL Invite Saturday

STARKVILLE – With hopes of registering a time that will qualify him for the NCAA Indoor Championship, Dejon Devroe is set to represent the Bulldogs at the JDL Invite in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Devroe will appear in the Men's Invite 800m beginning at noon CT. Athletes from Duke, La Salle, North Carolina A&T and Penn State will join Devroe in the race.
At the Power 5 Invitational earlier this season, the senior crossed the line in 1:49.29, which ranks fourth in the SEC and 23rd in the nation.
Two years ago, the three-time All-American ran a personal best in the event with a time of 1:47.69 for a sixth place finish at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships. At Shorter, Devroe competed in the NCAA Division II Championships, where he finished eighth in the 800m with a time of 1:52.34.
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will compete against some of the best athletes in collegiate track at the 2020 SEC Indoor Championships held in College Station, Texas on Feb. 28-29.
