Men's Golf Adds Nimmo and Blanchard on National Signing Day

STARKVILLE – On Wednesday, Mississippi State's men's golf program welcomed two new members to the Bulldog family.

Jay Nimmo of Benton, Kentucky, and Bo Blanchard of Columbus, Georgia have signed their National Letters of Intent to join MSU's 2021 signing class.

Nimmo, from Marshall County High School, is ranked No. 16 in the 2021 class according to the Rolex Polo Rankings and No. 29 overall according to the Junior Golf Scoreboard. He is a two-time American Junior Golf Association champion as well as a Rolex All American. He won the Kentucky State Championship in both 2019 and 2020 and received Kentucky Boys Junior Player of the Year honors earlier this month after a victory in the KSHSAA Championship and Kentucky PGA Junior Tour's Lou Perry Tour Championship.

"The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Jay Nimmo is his competitive character and his ability to win. He is an extremely gifted player and has a lot of belief in his game," head coach Dusty Smith said. "Jay's toughness and grit were qualities that stuck out to us during the recruiting process. Jay is a very humble yet hungry competitor who is going to have a huge impact on our program. Jay is a multi-sport athlete who knows the importance of being on a team and playing for the team. We are so excited to welcome Jay to the Mississippi State Golf
family."

Blanchard, ranked ninth in his class in the state of Georgia, attended Brookstone High School. In 2019, he won the 2019 Southeastern Junior Golf Tour (SJGT) Championship and the Berkeley Hills Junior Classic. In September of this year, he again won the SJGT Southeastern Junior for his fourth Top-10 finish in the tournament in four years. Blanchard is a two-time First Team All-State selection and won the GHSA Class-A Private State Championship.

"Bo is a proven winner and has shown that on multiple occasions throughout his junior career. One thing that really stood out to us during the recruiting process was his quiet confidence. He is very level-headed during competition but has that inner belief in himself that is hard to teach. Bo has all the physical tools to be a great player for our program.
